Humble Administrator’s Garden——-It’s the most classic Chinese garden,a combination of buildings, ponds, bridges, paths and trees arranged in a specific manner. Scenic, peaceful and eloquent, everything in the garden tells a story of the past time.
Hanshan Temple——-Hanshan Temple is a famous Buddhist temple in China’s history. It is known to most Chinese because of a poem about it written by Zhang Ji, a poet in the Tang Dynasty. The poem is both taught in the primary schools in China and Japan. There are many historical buildings and tablet inscriptions written by calligraphers and it is also a popular place to pray for peace.
Shantang Street——an ancient riverside pedestrian road in northwest Suzhou, Jiangsu, is very popular with tourists. From Changmen Gate (the west gate of the ancient city) in the downtown, it winds northwest on the northern bank of the Shantang River, and ends at scenic Tiger Hill. It extends about 2.2 miles (seven li), hence the name ‘Seven-Li Shantang’.
Suzhou Grand Canal Cruise——Take a cruise on the Suzhou Ancient Grand Canal (a part of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal) to see the old buildings and get a feel for the life of the locals. Tranquil, peaceful and historical, just like a time machine to take you back to the old era when ancient people mainly traveled by shipping on the waterway.
